Kendo is a traditional sword-fighting of Japan. According to All Japan Kendo Federation in 1975, the concept of Kendo is to discipline human characters through the application of the principles of the Katana (sword). Learning Kendo can enable people to love their country and society more, and to promote peace and prosperity among them.
The portrait of my shooting is Tyler Dunham, a Kendoka as well as a senior from CMU. He has been doing Kendo since January 2007. He has awarded 2nd place in Michigan Family Taikai. On the shooting day, he brought shinai, bogu and hakama to show me how a Kendoka should wear like.
